Why do the three religions of Abraham – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam – keep a Sabbath day? Why do other other major religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism keep a special day, often weekly, for increased devotions. The 20thcentury Jewish theologian Abraham Joshua Heschel, answers in his book, The Sabbath. He said, “It is a day on which we are called upon to share in what is eternal in time, to turn from the results of creation to the mystery of creation; from the world of creation to the creation of the world.” In other words, to cultivate awe, our theme for October. Worship Leader – Rev. Bryan Plude, Worship Associate – Beverly McMillan, Music – Pam Sachs & Margaret Aumann, Sound Board – Jeff Sachs.
