The roots of Thanksgiving Day in America are deeply problematic, but the idea of setting aside a day for giving thanks is not. Many religious leaders recommend a practice of daily thanksgiving; on Thanksgiving day we can look beyond our daily gratitudes to the larger grace-given gifts which bless our lives.
